The 2009 attack on Sri Lankan cricket team continues to affect cricket in Pakistan in 2019.
Srilankan team is due to tour Pakistan for 3 ODI and 3 T20 series starting from 27 September till October 9th.
However preparations receives a major set back when veterans Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews and captain Dimuth Karunaratne along with other 7 players opted out over security concerns.

Perera, who led the team in T20 international in Lahore in October 2017 has this time decided to stay away.
Earlier players in a preliminary squad were briefed on security arrangements by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board and were given the freedom to decide if they wanted to travel.
Srilankan sports minister Harin Fernando had assured that Sri Lanka will tour Pakistan and that he will personally travel with the team to boost the confidence of the players.
The tour will serve major step towards reviving international cricket in Pakistan. The success of this event will pave way for PCB to convince Australian and England Cricket boards for matches later on.
